Eagle Cam: Self-Discipline vs. Patience

I had been trying to establish a routine where I would draw in my sketchbook every day. But it wasn’t happening.

In the spring, I started watching a YouTube live stream of a bald eagle nest in a tree by Big Bear lake in California. I wasn’t as faithful as many, but I checked in occasionally to watch the two eagles take turns sitting on their two eggs. As I worked on my computer in my attic studio, feeling the March wind shake the house, I’d often keep the livestream on in the background to listen to the crackling nest twigs and the ocean-like wind in the trees.

I don’t think the eagles were thinking about self-discipline as they sat there day and night. Patience comes from a different place.
